Welcome Fall
This time of year is full of fun activities for all ages. Here are my top 3 upcoming events:
1) Art on the Avenue (Del Ray) on October 1 from 10 am to 6 pm. The 27th annual arts festival held in the Del Ray features more than 350 artists including car-makers, cartographers, quilters, painters and crafters. Bring your appetite and enjoy one or two of the over 20 food vendors. Arrive with an appetite, enjoy the live music and grab a bite from 20+ food vendors.
2) Mount Vernon Estate’s Fall Wine Festival Taste takes place October 7, 8 and 9 from 6-9pm.
Enjoy unlimited samples of Virginia’s finest wines on the east lawn at Mount Vernon. Bring a chair and enjoy views of the Potomac River while listening to live music.
Bottles of wine will be available for purchase.
3) South Lee Street Trick or Treating (Old Town, Alexandria). Not an official event, but each year on October 31, the Alexandria Police Department puts up barriers to close down Lee Street from King to Gibbon streets from 5 to 8 p.m. Residents go all out on their decorations ~ some creepy, some cute and many are very clever. If you can’t make it on Halloween, check out the decorations on another night. The displays start going up after October 1.
