Arlington
When You Live in Arlington…
…you’ll be directly across the Potomac River from Washington DC. Arlington is a top place to live for those who want ease of transit whether it be by car, plane, or metro train or bus. Arlington is home to approximately 234,000 people who are among the most highly educated and diverse in the country. According to the Arlington Chamber of Commerce, one in four residents is foreign born with one in three speaking a language other than English in their home.
Arlington is ranked #2 on the 2021 Best Cities to Live in American on Niche.com. Although Arlington has a distinct urban feel there are plenty of parks and green space to enjoy.

Shirlington Dog Park
Large and one of the most organized dog parks in the area. There are County staff and a team of volunteers who monitor the park to ensure a long list of rules are followed so that the park remains safe for both dogs and humans. There is a small dog area, water fountains, trash bins, shaded areas and benches. Located at 2710 S. Oakland St, Arlington, VA. More information here

Arlington National Cemetery
Established after the Civil War, is on the site of Robert E. Lee’s former home and land. The cemetery is on the National Register of Historic Places. With 639 acres of rolling hills and gardens, Arlington Cemetery is where soldiers have been buried since the Civil War. The Tomb of the Unknown and the Honor Guard change of duty is a must see.

Long Bridge Drive
A public park north of National Landing (formerly known as Crystal City). It’s a great place to explore because of its recreational/sports facilities, aquatic facilities, views of the Potomac River, garden, walkways, playing fields and picnic areas. Located at 475 Long Bridge in Arlington. It’s a great park and facility for all ages!

Washington & Old Dominion (W&OD) Railroad Regional Park
A narrow park with a paved trail between Shirlington and Purcellville, VA. Along a former railroad bed, runners, bikers, skaters and walkers share the 45-mile route which meanders through urban terrain as well as the countryside. Horseback riding is done on the adjacent 32-miles gravel horse trail. There are multiple parking areas and trailheads. Find the trail map and points of interest here.
